Academic Seminars and workshops
Since 2012, I have been giving workshops and seminars for students in BA and MA courses across a variety of disciplines including sound art, design cultures and architecture. Focusing on environmental sound, listening and soundwalk methodologies, my workshops position the students in the leading role, emphasising conversation, exchange and collaboration in the process of listening to our environments. I am using text-scores, live audio streaming and mobile messaging as tools for creating conversational exercises and for listening together.
Producing creative responses is an important element in the process as it enables the participants to reflect and become more aware of the resonant themes and sounds of the experience; what is important, how they listen, how listening to each other can be sometimes more enriching than listening alone. Each workshop consists of an introduction-theoretical section, a field-visit/practice part and a final section for reflection and response-creation.
