BA (Hons) Digital Music and Sound Arts
Between June 2017- January 2020, I hworked as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader on the course BA (Hons) Digital Music and Sound Arts at the University of Brighton. During my time there I have also completed a PGCert on Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
I have designed innovative approaches to teach a vast range of theoretical and practical modules around sound art practices, sound organisation, electroacoustic music and sound diffusion techniques, creative audio systems and new media instruments and applications as well as theory on experimental and contemporary music and art.
My approach to paedagogy and learning takes as a starting point the student's own background, sensibilities and interests. Providing building blocks and creative provocations to expand the understanding and knowledge of the possibilities of such a competitive field is central to my teaching. Desiging live briefs that offer the students the possibility to present work in a real life environment is also a core element in my teaching and learning methodology.
During my time at the UoB, I also initiated the Creative Sound and Research and Enterprise Group, bringing together members of staff across different departments at the School of Media who research and practice around sound. The main idea behind this was to connect our current students to research projects and opportunities happening beyond the classroom and to render the sound community of the university more prominent.
